Karen Ton, PhD, CPA

Karen Ton is the The Vincent B. DiDomenico, Jr. ‘88 Assistant Professor in Accounting at Villanova University’s School of Business. She received her Ph.D. in Accounting and B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. Before joining Villanova University in 2022, she served on the faculty at Emory University's Goizueta Business School and Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. Her professional experience includes positions in the Audit & Assurance Services and Transaction Services practices at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. She is an active Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.

Professor Ton's primary research focus is related to financial reporting, auditing, and regulation. Her research examines the intended and unintended consequences of regulation on financial reporting and audit quality. Her recent work also investigates how accounting information and disclosures affects stakeholder decisions. 

Professor Ton teaches financial accounting to students in the undergraduate program. She was awarded the Crystal Apple for Excellence in Undergraduate Business Education at Emory University and received the Mary Pickford Foundation Doctoral Teaching Award at the University of Southern California.
